At it one more time.

By Norm Seeley | August 9, 2008

There are times I just sit before the computer and type away.

Have a great life with a wonderful lady, that in itself could be the subjects for blog after blog but I want to keep some of our life together private. No, I’m not thinking about that. Just we do things together that I just want to share with her. Simple.

If you read normradio.com, you already know that I share a lot of things that we do. Enough is Enough.

There is a lot going on in this country and the world that also could be subjects, some of it, I’m interested in, some I lost interest in a long time ago….ie Obama, and some had no interest in at all.

But here I am again, blogging my little fingers off . And enjoying every single word, every single minute.

With my big 65th birthday come and gone, there are numerous things that could be dredged up and use as subject for blogs. Things that happened to me as a kid. Things that happened to me during High School. Things that happened to me in college. My past in broadcasting. My past as a Highway Patrol Reserve Officer. My business careers. A lot of stuff.

Just think of normradio.com as the acne cream in your life. Rub a little on, and you look better and feel better almost instantly.

Clinton…Obama…Edwards

By Norm Seeley | August 9, 2008

As you must know by now, John Edwards, former Democratic candidate for President admitted yesterday that he had an affair. But he’s not the father of the woman’s baby.

There’s a simple test John, and it doesn’t hurt a bit.

Edwards lied to us during his campaign, why not help set the record straight.

“Any suggestions on how not to get caught, John???”

I have been hearing that Edwards is not welcome to the Democratic Convention to be held up in Denver in a few weeks. I don’t understand. Bill Clinton, who we all know has had an affair is Welcome. I’m a little surprised that they are both asked to jointly get up before crowd so that they can be cheered for their moral character.

They have set such a great example for our country. I wonder if Obama is listening and learning anything. If it’s good for Clinton, good for Edwards….might be good for Obama.

When you get right down to it, there is one positive aspect that I haven’t heard on the national media about this….it’s going to spark interest in Funny Tee Shirts.

I’d like one with the face of Obama in the Center and Clinton on the right, Edwards on the left and a caption

“WE’RE FOR CHANGE”

Let’s Talk about it again.

By Norm Seeley | August 9, 2008

During the last few days I have talked about driving over to San Diego. Now it’s not because I need to go over there to visit a seafood restaurant or any other such thing. The real motivation is making my sweet wife happy.

That is first and for most in my life.

She’s happy….Norm’s happy.

Life can be so simple. Or, so complicated.

When I have typed about the trip, I have also suggested and typed about other places that I have thought of visiting. Before one leaves home, looking into Travel Insurance certainly is worth while.

There are so many different reasons to get away from home and head to a different area. Visit a new place,
“sight see”, Go camping, visit friends, attend something like the Olympics, or maybe even celebrate a birthday with the one you love. Which one fits you??

Saturday

By Norm Seeley | August 9, 2008

The first week of August has come and gone. The Second weekend is here and so far we have stayed at home. I haven’t thought of any where to go or anything to do. I guess that’s like a lot of people. Home is a good place to be and they don’t mind being there. I for one feel that way.

That doesn’t mean that I just stay here every single minute of the day. It really depends on the day. Some days, don’t want to even open the front door. Other days, it’s all you can do to keep me from running out the front door and hopping in the van. Just want to go. GO ANY WHERE!!

One thing that does motivate me to leave the confines of our house is when we receive a check in the mail. Now that pushes me to grab the check and high tail it to the Bank as quick as possible. To me, there is nothing more important than having the funds sitting in my account, not someone Else’s. Is that greed?

Banking has changed so much since the day I opened my first account up in Denver at the Cherry Creek Bank. I had started working in radio and needed a place to put my pay checks. Back then I of course had to take the check to the bank to deposit it. Today, there are so many different ways to do banking. A lot from right here at home….so if it’s one of those days that I don’t want to leave…..chances are….I can stay here and still bank. Pay bills on line, No Balance Transfer Fee, and on and on make banking today so much easier.

One thing hasn’t changed. Have a check. Have cash. One still has to head to the bank.

Closing.

By Norm Seeley | August 8, 2008

One day last week, I was in the van, going to pick up something for Karen and I when a story came on the radio about the closing of a local bank.

Now I’m an old person, but I thought it was 2008 not back in the thirties.

My mind driffed for a second….only a second, I was driving, to Alert H. Wiggin, The New England Son.

It’s a long story maybe I will tell you later.

Any way the reporter when on with details about how a local bank was being closed but that depositors didn’t need to worry, as a National Bank had purchased it and would be re-opening the bank the following Monday.

I wasn’t concerned one bit, as I did not have any funds in that bank. It might have been different had I had something there. Maybe I should have felt a little compassion for those who did have money with that institution, but for what ever reason it never entered my mind, not for even one second.

My mind did for a moment or two dwell, on the Outer banks , and I really can’t tell you the connection.

Today’s Big News.

By Norm Seeley | August 8, 2008

Just over two hours ago, this news came across the wire.

It was last week that the story started to surface although I believe it’s been it’s been around longer than that. Edwards has even admitted lying about it during his campaign. So are you surprised?

Does the name Bill Clinton ring a bell? Does Monica bring back a memory or two?

Don’t get me wrong, not that those in the Republican Party are above this, it sure seems that those on the left, and Democrats don’t see anything wrong with this type of activity. Not in the slightest.

From what I have read, just today, sure seems that there were a lot of people that knew that this was going on. That in itself, to me, tells you something. I’m a little surprised that there wasn’t at least one reporter in the regular media that didn’t jump on it, to make a name for him or herself. Maybe though, the “regular” media leans more to the left than I care to believe.

Then you would think that someone in his campaign staff would have purchased some Callaway Golf Clubs for him. To at least keep his hands busy. And apparently something else too. But no, they just sat there. Maybe they had worked for Bill Clinton and thought of it as normal activity.

Look below and see how a local talk show host reacted to the news. Normally I’m not up in time to listen to his show.

Maybe after listening now, I will set my alarm clock an hour later each morning.

On the Road again???

By Norm Seeley | August 8, 2008

The title above was taken from Willie Nelson.

There are a couple of minor items I need to have checked and fixed on our van before we head to the road and travel to San Diego. I know that would make Karen happy. And making her happy….makes me happy.

But I have to tell you there are times that I don’t just think of going to California. There is no question that I like San Diego and the restaurants over there for one thing. But it’s so different than Scottsdale. That in itself is enjoyable.

Karen’s family is fun and I like going to her Dad and Brother’s church. The music is good and if I can stay awake…..the sermons aren’t bad either.

OK, traveling is fine. Hopping in one’s vehicle is easy enough. Just load it up, pop in the seats and in a few hours….or more as the case may be, you have reached your destination. One however must consider how to take clothes and other personal stuff with them, if just traveling in your vehicle or going by train, bus, or plane. It’s important that one has the right way to carry clothing and other stuff. One should consider Delsey . There are so many different styles that are available these day, it makes choosing easy.
