Remember When.
By Norm Seeley | December 25, 2011
At the house I grew up in there in Denver, there was a lawn in the front, and one in the back.
I don’t remember it I had a crabgrass killer , but I’m sure I must have used something.
In those days, can you believe I use a simple lawn mower. When I say simple, I mean simple. It was manual. The power came from me. In the front there were small slopes and I would push the mower down each, making maybe 4 passes on each side of the sidewalk stairs that came from the sidewalk itself.
The back was less work as there were areas back where my Mom had planted vegetables and I didn’t have to mow there as there was no grass.

KRUX
By Norm Seeley | December 24, 2011
I got an email from Bob Shannon today saying that the old link to the KRUX video from the reunion was broken and he send me a new one.
Click above and relive the greatest Rock Station in the Valley of the Sun during the 1960s.
Merry Christmas from Karen and I.

Memories of Saturdays in Denver.
By Norm Seeley | December 22, 2011

What you are looking at is what the Esquire Theater in Denver looks like today.
It’s not what I remember back in the 50s when every Saturday, Sunny, Showy, Rainy, Clear…I would walk from our house on Franklin to attend the Saturday Matinee.
The Esquire was packed with us kids, who watched the Cartoons, an episode of a Serial and a picture show.
It’s here where I first saw the Wizard of Oz. Which for years was always fun to watch. I think in part cause I remembered watching it in the Esquire.
Being a Kid in Denver was a lot of fun.

Summers in the Rocky Mountains.
By Norm Seeley | December 19, 2011
I guess another day of rain here in Scottsdale got me thinking the summers I spent at Cheley Colorado Camps in Estes Park, Colorado.
I went there at least 4 summers in a row and for the full 8 weeks. I liked being there, where there was horse back riding, hiking in the Rocky Mountains, and there were even arts and craft seasons.
I loved riding. Hiking, to be honest I could take or leave. The arts and crafts, that too I kike because I could be creative and make jewelry for my mother.
Maybe I should find some jewelry making tools at beadaholique, and make a few things for wife Karen.

Coming up with Something on a Sunday.
By Norm Seeley | December 18, 2011
It just turned midnight and can you believe it, I’m still up? It’s been awhile since I have stayed up this late.
What should I do? Maybe I should come up with a question and put it here on my blog and see what kind of response I get.
OK, based on things I learned from my Father growing up in the Mile High City of Denver, Colorado, here’s the question.
If you have an answer add it to the comments section. If you are thinking that I’m giving away prizes, think again. IF you are up at this time of the day, at least I have come up with something for you to do.
Be thankful of that !

Big Tire Parking Places.
By Norm Seeley | December 12, 2011
It’s just after 2 PM here in Scottsdale and I just got back for the Schlotzsky’s that’s in Old Town Scottsdale where I picked up a sandwich to bring home and share with Karen.
It’s a good thing that Karen didn’t come with me.
Several reasons.
1. It’s Raining here in the metro Phoenix area.
2. The temp is not what I would say fit into Arizona “Chamber” weather.
3. There were two pickup trucks parked in the designated Handicapped Parking spots. So had Karen come with me, she would not have been able to get out of the van, with the 2 pickups in the Handicapped spots, we would have had to drive around for 20, 30 minutes or come up with somewhere else to pick up a sandwich.
The parking lot itself is such that those are the only two that allow for a vehicle with a ramp to lower it.
As I walked between the 2 pickups I couldn’t help but notice that the tires on one where almost as big as me. I’m 6’4.
That was the pickup that I would find out was driven by a young lady who couldn’t have been older than maybe 24 at most.
I have to admit I giggled as I watched her struggle to lift herself into the pickup’s cab. Maybe it was right for her to park in a “Handicapped Spot” She was far from graceful.
The other pickup was a commercial vehicle from a roofing company. I never saw the driver of that vehicle.
I guess with the rain, he/she was still inside stuffing his/her face.

Karen’s Wheelchair
By Norm Seeley | December 1, 2011
My sweet wife Karen had to go into the Hospital a couple of weeks ago and that first day I took her wheelchair to have the bearings looked at.
Wheelchairs are very specialized and her’s was built just for her and allows her not only to move around with ease, but she is also able to raise the chair up by 11 inches making it so she is more or less at the height of the people she is near.
She can also tilt the chair back so that she is not always sitting straight up and down. Spending a full day in a wheelchair can get to you but with the tilt feature it makes it a lot more comfortable.
