Interview with KRUX Good Guy Kit Carson (Part One)
By Norm Seeley | May 14, 2010
Last Sunday, Mother’s Day, I had the opportunity to talk with former KRUX Good guy Kit Carson. We have not talked since I left the station back in 1965.

There are two parts to the interview, starting today and continuing tomorrow.
You can find promotional items , on the right of this blog, featuring pictures of the KRUX Good Guys in the 60s.

Hey — this is great, Norm.
It would be nice to have an aircheck of Kit from “back in the day” — are any available?

Before getting off the phone with Kit last Sunday, I was asking the same question. He thought that he still had one and would look for it. If he finds it, and I have a copy I will put it on normradio.

Kit Carson was a hero to me during the years I spent in Phoenix listening to KRUX(1962-1968). He sounds ike a decent gentleman who never let his celebrity status go to his head. Norm asked the kind of questions that I would have asked. Bravo Norm Seeley!

Hi Norm!
I have never met you personally, but I’m well aware of your name. My name is Chris Peddie, the son of the late Frank Peddie (KTAR weatherman)who died in 1994.
I found your interview with Kit very interesting. You see, he and I worked as DJ’s together at KOOL FM back in the mid 70′s. Yes, I never thought I’d follow in Dad’s footsteps, but I did when I began my radio career in 1968.
It was such a thrill working with Kit because I used to listen to him while attending Scottsdale High in the early 60′s. And then to actually get the chance to work with him!! He and I became great friends during our time at KOOL. From what I understand, he is now a practicing attorney out in California. Am I correct? Gosh I haven’t spoken to him in years!!
At any rate, I now live in Nashville where I perform professional voice work. I lost my news anchor job with Cumulus a little over a year ago in a corporate downsize. I don’t know about you, but I feel so lucky to have worked in radio during the years I did. It just isn’t what it used to be.
Say, if you have Kit’s number, I’d appreciate you passing it along. I’d like to catch up with him.
I thank you, sir. long live 1360 KRUX!!!
Warmest Regards,
Chris Peddie

Sorry it took me two days to see your comment.
Somewhere I have kit’s email address and when I get it I will pass it on.
He’s now in Hawaii, still an attorney and seems to be happy in what is happening in his life. Worst case, I will get in touch with Bob Shanon who I email every once in a while. He’s out in LA and has an acting school. He seems to have kept in better touch with KRUX DJs. After I left KRUX, and went to KOOL for about 7 years, I never had any contact with one of them until last years’ reunion. And to be honest that too has been limited.
I watched your Dad, and always thought he did a great job.
I live in Scottsdale, “retired” in 2005 but at that point I had not been in broadcasting for almost 10 years.
We don’t need to hash it over, happy where I am now and look at the future rather than the past. I have done some voice over work, but to be honest don’t advertise that I’m here.
I never really pushed myself about working, that might be why I never went into a “big Time” market.
Give me a couple days and I will get back to you with Kit’s email.
