It’s raining again.
By Norm Seeley | January 21, 2010
You would think if you watch local TV or read the local newspaper that it has never rained here in Arizona.
Watching Local TV last night , in the lead story, someone in the County Alert Room that watches “flooding”, a county employee said that the metro area is not equipped to handle the rain.
You would think after all the years of rain, and we could go to the weather department and find the records that show that rains have hit our area for year and year. I know it did back in the 60s and 70s when I was on the radio here in the valley. I don’t remember it being the lead story on the then newscast, or causing major problems on the freeway which I would traveled each afternoon from 3 to 6 PM in a news vehicle. If there had been problems, I’m sure I would have remembered them. But I don’t.
And Arizona taxpayers have paid for years and years for flood control, and apparently with no real results.
I love seeing our tax dollars spent so well.
I took my daily walk, today in the rain, there was a little water in the street but nothing to worry ab out. Hit the Stop Sign and came back to the house. Even with a jacket on, it didn’t feel like Scottsdale, more like Denver.
I enjoyed it.
Don’t forget to listen to Friday’s Music tomorrow, it’s all new. You can also listen to my report on Amateur Radio Newsline, also tomorrow. You can find a link to the right or you can click above.
Have a great Friday.
