Two Days.
By Norm Seeley | November 24, 2009
Just two more days until Turkey Day.
I wonder if this year I will need an appetite suppressant .
Of all the holidays that we celebrate here in the US, Thanksgiving has always been a favorite of mine. I can remember the Thanksgivings that we had at our house on Franklin Street in Denver and how much I loved to have at least seconds of Turkey.
No question that I like Turkey, but I’m not one to go out and buy it at any time during the rest of the year. Guess I feel that if I did, Thanksgiving Dinner would never be the same.

Norm, why is it that there is no Thanksgiving movie like “A Christmas Story”, my favorite movie of all time? (In too many ways, Ralph’s tale is my tale as a youngster, complete with the cantankerous old oil furnace!)
Maybe they could call it “A Turkey Story”. But then it might be a box-office turkey.

That’s a great idea.
You should be in Hollywood.
How about an animated story of a Young Tom Turkey from birth to the age when he would be prime to be a Thanksgiving Feast.
It’s all he can think about , being there on a table golden brown, surrounded by veggies, and cranberries with a happy family sitting at the table. That was his life time dream, handed down from generation to generation. Kind of an inborn turkey thing.
The time comes, and he’s loaded into a truck, as he’s been chosen to be the White House Turkey. He’s taken into the Oval Office, and there is the President, the press, and the leaders of congress, taking time out from taxing the people to attend the yearly presentation of the Official White House Bird.
The President steps up to the microphone, Our proud turkey, is so excited that he is the country’s Thanksgiving Feast.
The President speaks, ” Ladies and Gentlemen, I’m here to announce that this fine bird has been spared this year and will be allowed to wall the halls of congress for the rest of his live. He’ll be right at home. ”
The Turkey Story will end with a close up of our Turkey, with tears coming from is eyes. as he sits on a chair in the House Chambers.
The voice of the turkey, will be Barnie Frank.
