Love Affair.
By Norm Seeley | September 29, 2009
Back in Denver, I had a love affair when I turned 18.
It went on for many years.
Lasted until I was in my fifties.
At the time I didn’t do a thing to hide it. I guess for a guy like me, I didn’t care who knew. I know that both my Father and Mother were well aware that it was going on, year after year. Neither ever said a word.
Neither told me I should stop.
Neither.
Never.
And here on normradio.com, right now, I’m going to let you in on my Love Affair.
From the very first car that I bought, I had a Love Affair with cars.
GM vehicles to be exact.
I liked them because I liked “factory built” auto.
While I liked the look of custom headlights. For me, what ever came from the factory was good enough for me. My second car, even though I lived in Denver, Colorado, had Air Conditioning. And the reason I bought it was because it was built into the dash of the Chevy Malibu. I could not stand an AC Unit hanging below the dash. A two-way radio, that’s OK, but not an AC unit.

Now you know. I think you need to know, I never gave female names to my cars. Never.
They were just my cars.

No name? But did you consider it a female?
You did say it was a love affair.
When you came out of a store and were in a big parking lot trying to find the car, did you say to yourself, ‘where is she’?

Mike,
Back then I thought of my car as my car. Did not give it a name. When I had to look for “it”, that what I would say, “where is it”. I guess back then I had a quote, unquote “Love Affair” with my Corvair. I heard that other men say things like, “Love my Harley”, “I just love guns.”
