Friday’s Music
By Norm Seeley | February 12, 2009
Last week on Friday’s Music, while featuring the songs of The Big Bopper, Ritchie Valens, and Buddy Holly, I played , “Raining in my Heart by Holly. My friend Kris, who listened to me on KIMN in Denver, commented that Bobby Vee had a version. And right she was.
Before today’s Friday’s Music, take a look at the photo below, then listen to Friday’s Music and I explain the coaster, then you’ll have a better idea of what it’s about. But really, I think you can figure that out just by looking at it. I think it’s important that I tell you I’m not being paid to blog about Red Robin, we just like the food and the people.
The food is good, and the people are down right nice. My favorite, is the 5 Alarm Burger.
You almost need a fire alarm on your body, cause it’s down right hot!!!
Back to Red Robin’s question on the coaster, which was the number one song back then? Any Idea?
You will find out at the end of this week’s addition of Friday’s Music. Take a listen!

Hey, Norm, that would be “Sugar, Sugar” by The Archies, written by Jeff Barry and Andy Kim. It was No. 1 for four weeks. The song was recorded by the cast of the “Archie” Saturday morning kid’s cartoon show, and featured the voices of Ron Dante, Toni Wine, Andy Kim, and Ellie Greenwich. No other fictional band has ever had a number 1 hit. Not bad for a bunch of made-up characters, eh?

Wow, I can throw out the Billboard Hot 100 book of the sixties and just call you. What color pants did they were during the recording? What Microphones did they use? Were they drinking Pepsi or Coke? Were they left or right handed? I want to know.

Let’s see… Black and yellow checkered slacks, blue jeans, blue jeans, and white shorts. They used Zoomabooma mikes and were drinking RC. Three were right handed; one (the girl) was left handed.
Amazing what Google can reveal!

Every house should have at least one Google. Remember, A Google a Day…keeps the Doctor away.

My Pleasure Kris, I went back too, but not that far…if I had, I would be glued to my radio up in my room…not broadcasting. That was fun too!!
