Over 110 Degrees!

By Norm Seeley | June 19, 2008

With the temperatures locally over 100 degrees lately. In fact if you go back a couple blogs you see that it’s hitting closer to 110 and 115 here in Scottsdale, it’s best that one drinks a lot of water. I suppose if you stay inside all the time, set the AC at 80 or below, drinking water is important but not as much if you don’t stay inside but venture out into the heat daily.

As I have mentioned, it’s a dry heat. As if someone where standing next to you holding 100s of hair dryers and aiming each one at you. That’s hot. Very hot. Even with a breeze, it’s hot. If you are standing in the Sun, you feel it even more.

Handles on cars get hot. So do the interiors if you park your car for any period of time. It’s good to have a reflector screen in the front windshield, that will help to keep the temperature down a little, especially if the Sun is glaring on your vehicle for any time. A couple of our friends have purchased remote starters for their cars. This way, they just punch a button on the remote five, minutes or so before going out, and the car’s AC is on and has cold down the interior a little. I have thought about that, but not really that hard…..as yet.

Clothing is also an area that can help. I find that cotton shirts and pants helps me out. Light weight stuff for the most part. With the temperature dancing around over 100, one might even consider a swimsuit. Arizona is known for it’s casual atmosphere.
