115 Degrees!

By Norm Seeley | June 16, 2008

There we were, going to lunch and we looked at the thermometer in our van, at the Tempe Marketplace about to go into Red Robin for lunch and it was showing 115 degrees.

I did not stop and try and count them. I had my still camera, and a thought past through my mind, maybe I would be able to take a picture showing the view of Camelback Mountain and the freeway and have the heat waves showing up in the picture. No such luck. Yes I felt like I was standing there with 100 hair driers aimed at our bodies, but no heat waves to speak of.

But let me assure you, we knew it was hot.

Didn’t need any politicians, from their Air Conditioned SUVs to tell us it was HOT.

When it gets that hot, one has to be careful not to just go out for hours and hours in the heat.

It can get to you quickly and if your not careful, it can cause heat stroke.

We’re going to carry water bottles in the van, after today just in case we should have the miss fortune to get caught some where and be as they say….STUCK in traffic.

I suppose if that were to happen to us, we could of course spend the time talking. Karen and I do that a lot, even when not STUCK….we even talk at home. Or we could take the time to plan for things. Karen could think about her many projects. I could think about CAT5e, and such things and what we could add to our house. It would be best to use such time wisely and not get over heated.

That kind of hot is scary. You can bet no MSers are out in that heat.

Karen must love to hear you speak. Your sonorous conversation must be soothing to the nerves.

After yesterday, I parked underground for lunch. The temp got up only to 108. But it didn’t feel like 100 hair driers.

    That was a relief!
