Illegal Handicapped Parking - Saturday Save

By Norm Seeley | June 7, 2008

This marks the second Saturday in a row that we have no run into illegal parking in Handicapped spots.

We don’t go out on Saturday looking for Illegal Parking. If we happen to run into it, I note it, if I have a still camera with me, I take a picture but didn’t run into one vehicle parked illegally in the handicapped spots at the restaurant we went to.

Now that doesn’t mean we were able to park. The Restaurant, on Scottsdale Road, just north of Camelback has two handicapped spots and that’s it. We parked at the end of the normal parking spots, taking up only one space. Now when we parked, the fence for the garbage area behind the restaurant was open and it actually blocked the spot to the right of our vehicle which made it possible for me to let the ramp down and Karen was able to roll down the ramp and get out. The fence had been closed by the time we finished lunch, but the space next to our van had not been used, so we were able to let down the ramp and Karen was able to go up the ramp and into the van.

Although no illegal parkers were found today, I found 3 at one parking lot last Thursday. Two are shown in the picture above. But let’s hope next Saturday will turn out the same as today with no illegal parkers.

People driving vehicles for Handicapped people don’t have to carry a laptop to figure out where and how to park. The Handicapped spot is clearly marked with a Sign on a post and a handicapped insignia on the ground. And the stripped, with it’s blue or yellow stripping is not hard to miss. It just takes a little concentration to park a vehicle withing the markings.

No Illegal Handicapped Parkers.
