Friday’s Music

for

June 6, 2008

Re-broadcast.

Friday’s Music when I do put it together is done out of my office. Now it’s not what you would consider a “Radio Studio” with a console, turntables, CD decks, or the like. There are three computers, a microphone, and some speakers. There is a small audio mixer sitting near one of the computers, just below the microphone that is attached to a microphone boom that is connected to a wall.

Really it looks like office furniture more than studio furniture. I guess other than the microphone, that has been with me for over 40 years, most people coming in here wouldn’t be the wiser that Friday’s Music is produced in hear.

It really boils down to the fact that radio equipment has changed so much since the days in the 60s when I started working on the air. Back then, there were racks of audio equipment, today, really you could do everything, with the exception of transmitting, using a single computer and one or more microphones. I guess the give away would be the mikes.
