More Sadness.

By Norm Seeley | June 5, 2008

Starting at the top, Len Ingebrigtsen passed away in 2003.

Johnny Johnson died before that. Back when I lived in Florida.

Duane Brady died in April 2008.

Bill Lester he passed in February of last year, 2007.

I just learned about the passings of Duane and Bill today.

That leaves Al McCoy and myself.

I think that Ed Hinkle died a while back, but I was unable to find any information.

I guess I know now why Duane never returned my phone calls with the State Highway Department. You would think that someone there would have thought to call back and let me know.

Nice men.

Sorry they are gone.

Update, Friday afternoon. I have talked to Al McCoy and Tom Chauncey II. I made a pact with them that if someone else dies we will be in touch with each other. I made it clear that should it be me, I would not call. Karen has told me, she will though.

Al and Tom’s names aren’t listed on the ad above, but both were a part of KOOL. Al did play by play sports with the then Phoenix Giants baseball team and sports on the air. Tom’s father owned KOOL and he did almost anything around the station as I remember it. Al, of course is now with the Phoenix Suns and Tom is an attorney.

Found out that Max Smith, who worked more on the TV side of the news department has also died. Confirmed that Ed Hinkle has passed away and found out that News Director for both the TV and radio stations, Bill Close is still alive.

So for the On the air staff, full time, that leaves, Al McCoy, who is now with the Phoenix Suns, Bill Close,  who was the news director for both the radio and television and  of course, myself.

During our conversation this morning, Al brought up KRUX. KRUX, was the station he was the PD of and the first station out of 3 that I worked for here in Phoenix.

It was about who was left.

About the same, just a very few.

He and I have agreed to get together and make a list of all the KRUX jocks and see who’s still alive.

That will be interesting.
