Illegal Handicapped Parking Saturday SAVE

By Norm Seeley | May 31, 2008

Here I’m again to report about Handicapped parking in the Scottsdale Arizona area.

We just returned after making two stops at two different locations. I’m happy to report that we didn’t find any illegally parked vehicles today in the Handicapped spots.

I can’t believe it either, but it’s true.

I did notice a lot of “Work Trucks” at the first location.

It’s great to see so many “Handicapped” people who are able to find work as “Handy Men”. Some of these vehicles have Handicapped Placards, some do not. I guess those without the placards it’s simply a matter that the driver has lost his/her memory about the fact that only those with the Handicapped Placards or licenses can park in those spots. Human memory is not like Laptop memory, that can be added to.

At the second location, a restaurant, parked next to us was an SUV, that parked well within the guidelines of the Handicapped Parking spot. As you can see in the pictures below, even then, getting a wheelchair up a ramp is just a matter of inches.

Above, it shows the ramp from our van.

In the second picture you can see there is not a lot of room to maneuver.

I had parked our van, as far to the left as possible in fact I didn’t have room to get out using the drivers door. I had to exit and then enter through the passenger’s side and the rear door.

That way, I insured that most likely we would have room to get my wifes wheelchair in and out of the van.
