Over 100 Degrees.

By Norm Seeley | May 21, 2008

Over the last few days, the temperature here in the Valley of the Sun, or Phoenix/Scottsdale/Mesa/Glendale, Arizona has hit over 100 degrees. That’s a record. The earliest that it’s gone that high.

If you have never been here when the temperature is that high, and it does go higher, you learn very quickly to enjoy Air Conditioning. In your vehicle and in your home or hotel. Restaurants of course have AC too.

I for one have in the past set my temperature in the house during the hot summer months in the low 70s. The AC in this house, was able to bring the temp down and I even thought of renting out space where meat could be hung as the temperature really got cold. Just ask my wife.

With the installation of the dual pane windows couple years ago and a programmable thermostat, my idea for comfort has changed. At first I didn’t believe that I would be comfortable. But I now believe that my old ideas were wrong. I set the temperature at 78 degrees and there I times that I walk into the house and think that it’s C O L D. I guess that when it’s over 100 outside, 78 feels good. So even an older person like me can learn new tricks. Bow Wow.

This is of course a good time to think about the outside or patio area of one’s house. While during the day the temp might be a little too much, once the Sun goes down, it’s enjoyable outside. Fans help. Misters also help. But it’s a good time to think about teak patio furniture, the perfect addition to any patio.

That’s another thing that I have enjoyed in the past few years. Our patio. Never was one that like being outside but there are times when it’s so nice to sit out on the patio and just have a quiet evening with my beautiful wife.
