Should we have gone Back?
By Norm Seeley | April 6, 2008
On Saturday, April 5th, KK and I went back to Charleston’s Restaurant here in Scottsdale. It’s been one of our favorite spots to eat and meet friends at for lunch or dinner.
Yesterday, it was not up to the normal standards that we have grown accustomed to.
First, the food. On Saturday they make Chili. In the past it’s been a very good Chili.
Not Saturday though. It had changed.
Much thicker and hotter.
Not what KK was used to.
I had a Hickory Burger.
It looked the same, but one bite and I knew it was not the same.
I guess I just didn’t remember the flavor and Saturday I just didn’t like it.
Guess my mind was telling me to think about the flavor of the Hickory Burger I used to get up in Denver at Rich’s. Those were the days, but there was no comparison with the two flavors. The one I remember from Denver was “to die for”.

(Picture not of the burger from Charlestons.)
One more thing.
Service.
Our waitress took our order and more or less left us alone. No refill on our Ice Teas, no checking to see if we were satisfied.
Like so many Scottsdale restaurants, one time, and you never go back.
I guess that’s what’s in store for Charleston’s of Scottsdale.
