Green?

By Norm Seeley | March 5, 2008

We have a light over our dinning room table and it was down to one old bulb . So the other day I thought it would be smart to replace the normal 3 Incandescent bulbs with “Earth Friendly” versions.

Putting them in was easy enough. I’m tall enough to do it by myself. My arms are long enough that it was easy to walk around the table in a circle to screw them in. I finished in a few minutes and turned them on. There was LIGHT.

I was back to other things down the hall in my office.

It wasn’t more than 5 minutes before KK came down the hall and said the lights had gone off.

I’m not going to beat this story to death, right to the point. We have a remote switch on that light and I figured the “Ecobulbs” don’t work with the remote. I replaced the “EcoBulbs” with a new set of low wattage Incandescent bulbs, and we had light again and they have stayed on.

So as of right now there are less than a half a dozen incandescent bulbs in our house. I will continue to replace them when and where I can.

Take notice Mr. Gore.

Ah, but the question is. . . .when are you going to start putting in some LED bulbs?

You know that you’re not really “green” until you get rid of the toxic flurosecent bulbs and start putting in the LED bulbs of the future.

I have seen some special LED bulbs for video work, but not for the house. Not until today.

My first thought. THEY ARE EXPENSIVE!!!
