My Full Name.

By Norm Seeley | March 1, 2008

(First of all, you get right down to it, this is a non-issue.)

I want you to know that I’m very proud of my full name:

NORMAN AUSTIN SEELEY JR.

So proud in fact that during high School, when they called my name, Norm Seeley, I would answer by saying “Norman Austin Seeley Jr.” I loved the look on the teacher on duty when I did that.

So proud when my son was born, I passed it on to him:

NORMAN AUSTIN SEELEY III

I guess that’s why I don’t understand for a moment why the flap over the use of Barack Obama’s middle name, “Hussein” .

Question: Isn’t he proud of his name?

Question: Is he trying to hide something?

Question: Are those around him concerned that the public will read something into the name?

I just don’t understand.
