Sorry Ladies, but it’s true

By Norm Seeley | January 15, 2008

We drove over to California on December 20th. But before leaving Scottsdale I visited my Doctor’s office for a quick check up. I had to get on the scale. I was just under 300 big ones.

Now, I’m 6′4″ so the weight could be all muscle. Let me assure you, in my case, it isn’t.

Now yesterday I weighed again, another Doctors’ office but a similar scale. I’m now at 289. Sorry ladies, that’s just the way it is with me. I can with little or no effort take it off. But it does if I’m not careful come right back.

No Cokes. No Bread. No Sweets.

I know what you’re going to say, and you’re right. I should work out. Maybe an elliptical trainer.

Years ago I did have a stationary bike and enjoyed working out on it. Karen and I have been talking about me getting a real bike, so that not only could I exercise but we could go to the near by parks and enjoy the outdoors at the same time.

It ain’t fair, but wait a bit and age will tell. My coworker was one of those until he hit 40. Sure enough the weight went on.

Not to seem ignorant, but, is it usually too warm to ride bikes out there? What about just walking? And how will you bike with Karen?

    Details! Details! I’m interested.

There are many months and also during the middle of the summer that with the right timing, one can live outside an air conditioned house or vehicle.

Karen would be in her wheelchair and I would either follow, or lead on my bike.

I had an English bike, (red) back in Denver and loved to ride it until I got the Corvair.

Well, I’m glad for you, but it IS frustrating. I weighed in last night @ WW and I lost 4.6 lbs last week, so THERE! But I am trying, not starving though. I had knee surgery the 12th of December, and just started the physical therapy last week. I think that’s what made the weight come off. But…hope I can keep it up.

PB - If you wait until Norm’s 40, you’re gonna have to count backwards…..

Kris is right, it’s been a very long time since this body, even this mind saw 40.
