Her Screams woke me! #4

erroom.jpgHere’s a quick recap.

Karen, late Thursday afternoon got trapped under her desk when her power wheelchair’s controls got jammed into the desk itself. I was able to lift the desk and get her out.  But she was in pain.

Since she doesn’t do well out of her chair, calling for an ambulance that’s not equipped to carry a person in a wheelchair, was not a good idea, using our own van that is so equipped was the best and quickest way of getting to the hospital.

She got very quick and professional help from the ER and its staff at Scottsdale Healthcare.  A Doctor saw her within about 10 minutes and we had just finished spending time in the x-ray room. This really is the part that seamed to take the longest.  The room we had been in, number 33 was no longer available,  someone else was coming in so we had to wait in the ER hallway for what seemed like 30 minutes or so.  Another room was found, and we continued to wait in there.   Although it wasn’t more than 20 or 30 minutes total, in real time, waiting for the Doctor to return with the x-ray results, it sure felt like it was longer.
