A Blog Event and I bet you Missed it.

By Norm Seeley | January 12, 2007

Have you ever started something and it doesn’t work…and you try again and again and each time for no reason it doesn’t work again and again?  Well that is what happened to me with this post.  I uploaded it several times, went to view it and each time my computer would give an error message and shut down.  I would re-write it, upload and go to view and shut down city.  This time, on entering my word program I received a notice of an error  saying, “do I want to get rid of it?”   Let me get back to you computer.  Thank you so much!   YES, get rid of it…NOW.

NOTE:   Sunday night & Monday Night between the hours (AZ time) of 7-9PM Please no phone calls, emails, visits, stay away.  24 returns.  Need we say more?

OK, lets get to the original subject I wanted to blog about.  Make it quick.  I bet you missed a “Blog Event” right here on normradio.com that started on Dec 29th.  Now if you read this blog even once in a while, you know I make you work.  If you want to find out what it was…..go back to my blog post of the 29th.  One hint:  look in the comments.  Sitting here with thinking it was “pretty neat event” thought in Scottsdale, Norm Seeley.

    Norm;

    Neat read.

    I had something a little bit similar happen in the last few months.

    Last May, at the suggestion of my lovely tall blonde trophy wife (she doesn’t like me to call her that, since she’s also my first wife, and we’ve been married 30 years this June, but oh well. . . .). Anyway, my wife suggested I follow the lead of my kids and get a ipod, which I did.

    I then decided to rip a bunch of my old gospel albums so I could put them on the ipod (I have several hundred. . . .). As I was going through them, I came across an album entitled “Streams in the Desert”, which was recorded by Phoenix First Assembly of God church back in ‘72 or ‘73. I had attended the church in ‘71 when I was in graduate school at ASU, and had developed some deep friendships with a number of people there.

    Listening to the album brought back some memories — especially the nice “Sweet Sweet Spirit” rendition done by the “Teen Tone Trio” which, as I recall, consisted of Lucretia Lionetti, Nancy McConauhay, and someone else. Spurned on by the memories, I started wondering what happened to some of my old friends, since I hadn’t lived in Arizona for 35 years and hadn’t been there for 20 years other than traveling through the state to some other place.

    So I did an internet search, and low and behold. . . .my old Sunday School Teacher in the College and Career Sunday school Class at Phoenix 1st Assembly is now the Assemblies of God Arizona headquarters Secretary Treasurer. I sent him a e-mail, and he was somewhat astonished to hear from me after 30 years, and was maybe even more surprised to find that the engineering geek he remembered was now a surgeon. I also was able to contact two other good friends that I hadn’t seen in 20 years, and have visited with both since then.

    One of my old ASU buddies that I went to Pheonix 1st with went into the military the same time I did — I was in the Air Force, and he was in the Army. But we were both stationed in San Antonio, and so we hung around together on the weekends. I was able to contact him, and he and his wife came up to the Northwest in September to see their college son play soccer, and they spent the day with me and my wife. It was really interesting comparing notes on our kid’s athletic travails and endeavors, since my wife and I have a daughter that plays college softball.

    Anyway, all this to second your original thought - - it really is nice when you get to meet again some of the people who gave you such nice memories from decades ago!!

    (I sure got carried away with this, didn’t I!!!)
