I wanted to, But I didn’t Get it Done.
By Norm Seeley | January 3, 2007
Yesterday was one of those days that nothing that I wanted to get done, got done. Yesterday was the EZLock day.
EZLock, now Mr. Seeley? What do you mean by that? Simple, Yesterday, we took the van to Wheelchair Carrier, Inc. in Scottsdale next to the Scottsdale airport and that is where they installed an EZLock. OK with the EZLock, WHAT IS IT????
I could have told you that, and will do so now, it’s a device that is bolted to the floor and chasis of the van, in our case where the passenger seat normally goes, so that Karen can drive her wheelchair up the ramp, that goes out 8 feet from the floor of the Dodge Mini Van ’s normal floor that has been lowered 10 inches so that Karen can sit in a normal position and sit there as if her wheelchair were now the passenger seat. It’s equipped just like the normal passenger chair with a seat belt so that sitting in her wheelchair, belted there too; she will be safe in a crash. (Auto Accident.) That belt is connected to the van itself.
Sure makes things a lot easier. Ever tried manually tying down a wheelchair with four straps to secure it to the vehicle? I have! Ever tried to manually tie down a wheelchair with four straps to secure it to the vehicle when it’s 110 degrees in the Arizona heat? I have done that too! With the EZLock, that is no longer my job, Karen just drives her wheelchair into the van and is LOCKED in. Something for me to think about here in Scottsdale, Norm Seeley.

How does she get out?

1. We park the van. 2. We open the passenger door. 3. We let down the ramp. 4. We push a button. 5. She backs her wheelchair out of the EZLock. 6. She turns, and rolls down the ramp. It’s that EZ.
